An antique plate wall, already collected and curated for you.
This one of a kind, 10-piece gallery wall brings together English George Jones & Sons “Rhapsody” china with a spectacular Hutschenreuther Selb Bavarian statement plate in a palette of celadon green, ivory and antique gold.
Rather than spending months hunting for plates that work together, this collection has been selected and arranged as a complete decorative installation. Three plate sizes create depth and movement, while repeating green, gold and embossed botanical details tie the entire collection together.
Arranged as photographed, the finished gallery measures approximately 33" wide × 39–40" tall, depending on spacing—large enough to make a beautiful statement over a buffet, hutch, console, dresser or other piece of furniture.
The Collection
10 antique plates total:
1 large Hutschenreuther Selb, Bavaria statement plate — approx. 11"
2 large green George Jones & Sons Rhapsody plates — approx. 8"
7 small George Jones & Sons Rhapsody plates — approx. 6"
Coordinating green, ivory and gold palette
Suggested finished arrangement: approx. 33"W × 39–40"H
Hanging hardware/plate hangers are not included.
The photographed arrangement is simply a guide. The plates can be spaced more tightly, spread farther apart, or rearranged to suit your wall.
The Centerpiece
At the heart of the collection is an ornate Hutschenreuther Selb Bavarian porcelain plate, made in Germany and retailed by the historic John Wanamaker department store.
The approximately 11" plate features a striking pale turquoise/celadon field covered in intricate gold ornamentation, an elaborate gilded border and richly decorated gold center.
Its reverse bears both the Hutschenreuther Selb, Bavaria maker's mark and the John Wanamaker retailer mark—an appealing connection between fine European porcelain production and the grand American department stores of the early 20th century.
George Jones & Sons Rhapsody
Surrounding the Bavarian centerpiece are nine coordinating George Jones & Sons “Rhapsody” plates, made in Staffordshire, England.
Dating approximately to the late 1920s–early 1930s, these Art Deco pieces feature beautiful raised botanical decoration molded into creamy white porcelain. Flowers, foliage and fruit create wonderful texture, while crisp geometric borders add green and gold accents.
The collection includes both green and gold variations of the pattern, allowing the smaller plates to echo both the celadon color and extensive gilding of the Bavarian centerpiece.
Together, the different sizes and colorways create the appearance of an antique collection assembled gradually over generations, without having to spend years assembling one.
Condition
Antique condition with age-appropriate wear and patina.
The large Hutschenreuther plate has visible wear and loss to its extensive gold decoration, particularly within the heavily gilded center. This is clearly shown in the close-up photographs. Despite the wear, the elaborate decoration remains striking and displays beautifully as wall art.
The George Jones pieces show normal signs of age and previous use, including minor surface wear and variation to their decorative finishes.
Please review all photographs carefully; they form part of the condition description. These are genuine antique pieces, so variations and evidence of their history are expected and are part of the character of the collection.
Because these pieces include antique decorative finishes and gilding, this collection is being offered primarily as decorative wall art and display, rather than everyday tableware.
Perfect for grandmillennial interiors, English country homes, traditional and eclectic decorating, collected interiors, dining rooms, breakfast rooms, kitchens, entryways, powder rooms and anywhere that could use a little old-world color and ornament.
This is a one-of-a-kind curated collection. The 10 antique plates pictured are the exact pieces you will receive.
