These vintage Swank cufflinks have a fantastic Mid-Century Modern look, and the dark cabochons really come alive in the light.
Each cufflink features an elongated silver tone oval frame with textured detailing and a raised, dark domed cabochon at the center. The stones display pronounced chatoyancy: a smoky silvery-blue/gray glow visibly travels across the surface as the cufflinks are moved in the light.
The appearance is consistent with hawk’s eye (blue tiger’s eye), a naturally chatoyant variety of tiger’s eye. Stones have not been professionally gemologically tested, so they are described as believed to be hawk’s eye rather than guaranteed.
The streamlined openwork setting gives these a distinctly 1960s Mid-Century Modern / Space Age feel.
